I’m continuing with the floral series and the close examination of blossoms for their abstract quality in extreme close up. A teacher of mine, Harry Feiner, used  to say, “Abstraction should always be based on a thorough knowledge and understanding of reality.”

I opened this with one of the things I say to myself every day when I sit down (figuratively) to work. Drawing and painting is what I’ve always wanted to do, even if I’ve allowed other things to intervene. It is what I keep coming back to; Why I keep asking myself “If all you ever wanted to do is draw and paint; then why aren’t you doing that right now?”
