This is another piece from the intersection of Oglethorpe and Hancock Avenues. Like the previous posts From the Edge of Normaltown 030312  and 030412 I began this one by toning the entire page with charcoal and the erasing out the highlights. I did use a bit of “white” charcoal pencil to add some brightness.

For someone who usually works  things up like a watercolor this particular approach is liberating. Just a different way of seeing deeply starting in the middle and working value from both directions.
